Steve Vierck Joins the New Mexico Partnership
The New Mexico Partnership is pleased to announce that Steve Vierck, CEcD will be joining us as the new President and CEO of the organization. He will be responsible for leading the Partnership in its efforts to market New Mexico to companies, key decision makers and site selectors as a premier location to do business.

Prior to joining the New Mexico Partnership, Steve was President of the Economic Development Division for Angelou Economics in Austin, TX, one of the largest economic development and site selection consulting firms in the United States. There, he provided oversight and direct involvement on various economic development strategies, workforce assessments, industry targeting, organizational benchmarking, marketing plans, facility reuse studies, and site selection analysis for clients such as Colorado Springs, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and the Wisconsin Department of Commerce.
Steve has consistently applied his advanced organizational and marketing skills in key roles over the past 30 years, having served as President and CEO of southern New Mexico’s Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance. At MVEDA, he successfully led the recruitment and expansion of 49 companies generating 3,000 jobs and $147 million in capital investment in southern New Mexico.
Past positions also include Vice President of Economic Development for the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce. He and the teams he has directed successfully attracted and expanded over 350 industries generating over 25,000 jobs and $6 billion in investment from companies ranging from Intel to Allstate.
A strong proponent of the need to better connect workforce development resources with economic development needs, Steve has actively served on the Workforce Investment Boards for the Phoenix metropolitan area and southwestern New Mexico. Organizations he has directed have conducted extensive research to better understand workforce assets, employer needs, and gaps.
Steve holds a Masters Degree in Geography and a Bachelors Degree in Regional Development from the University of Arizona. Steve earned the certified economic developer designation (CEcD) from IEDC in 1991 and is a recipient of the “William W. Lampkin Award for Long-term Excellence in Economic Development”. He has been recognized as "Economic Developer of the Year" in both Arizona and New Mexico.
